Michèle Bruelhart

Executive Director for the Copper Mark

Michèle Bruelhart is Executive Director for the Copper Mark. She is an expert in supply chain due diligence with over 10 years of experience working on the design, implementation and independent assessment of sustainability standards. Michèle has worked in Africa and Europe, including field work in over 30 countries. She has also held positions with the Responsible Business Alliance, RCS Global, Underwriters Laboratories and the German Society for International Cooperation. Michèle holds a Master's degree in International Relations from the Graduate Institute of International Studies Geneva, Switzerland.

Georgina Hallett

Chief of Staff, London Metal Exchange

Georgina is the Chief of Staff for the LME, where she plays a central role in the LME's market reform and new strategic initiatives She has been closely involved in the LME's recent market structure discussion paper and resultant Strategic Pathway, the LME's warehouse reform programme, and leads the LME's work on responsible sourcing initiatives. She has worked at the LME since September 2012, initially in research and analytics. Georgina began her career at Euromoney Institutional Investor and has a doctorate in psychology.

Alan Chirgwin

Vice President Sales and Marketing, Copper and Diamonds, Rio Tinto

Alan Chirgwin has 30 years of international mining experience and with a proven track record in senior commercial roles with international responsibility. Most recently, Alan was appointed as Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Copper and Diamonds for Rio Tinto in April 2017. In this role, Alan leads all commercial initiatives for copper and diamonds, including sales and marketing, supply chain management and product stewardship efforts. Alan’s areas of expertise are sales and marketing, strategic planning / leading growth and business development.

Prior to joining Rio Tinto, Alan served as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for BHP’s iron ore business. This followed a series of leadership roles in Health, Safety and Environment, Operations, and Sales and Marketing across BHP’s product groups in Australia, The Netherlands and Singapore.

Alan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry and has completed postgraduate studies in Environmental Law from James Cook University of North Queensland, Australia. Alan also has a number of affiliations including Turquoise Hill Board, International Copper Association Advisory Council and Diamond Producers Association Board.
