Waste Water Heat Recovery Systems

Every day, more than 22,000,000 m3 of hot water is consumed by European homes alone.

It is the main source of energy consumption for new housing, and yet 80 percent of this heat ends up in sewers and is wasted. Considering 80 percent of hot water is used in showers, harvesting heat from shower drains via a copper-made heat exchanger could be a simple and effective way to save energy and CO2 emissions. To unlock the potential of this solution, the calculation of the energy performance of buildings should integrate the benefits of heat recovery.
