Laurent Chokoualé Datou leads the International Copper Association’s (ICA) public affairs operations, including two global programs: Material Stewardship and Industry Reputation. A diplomat at heart, Laurent enjoys navigating issues with high geographical and topical diversity, identifying how best to serve members’ business needs, and achieving positive outcomes through internal and external collaborations. To date, his favorite project has been designing the organization’s strategy for reputation-building.  

With a background in law, Laurent is proudest when he can use his people skills to make a collective impact in advocacy. In addition to his passion for advocacy, Laurent is a semi-professional musician and has even considered pursuing music full time.
